This beautiful mitered cowl makes clever use of Merino Velvet Worsted self-striping yarn to deliver a pop of color and brilliance.

 

Knitted Measurements: H 8" x Circumference 26"

 

Materials
Merino Velvet Worsted, Col 104 x 1 ball - (Color A);
Merino Velvet Worsted, Col 105 x 1 ball - (Color B);

US Size 10 1/2 (6.5 mm) knitting needles

 

Gauge: Approx 15 st = 4" in Garter Stitch

 

Note: Alternate between Color A and Color B every 2 rows, carrying unused yarn up along the edge/side of scarf.
SSK= slip st, slip st, knit both slipped sts together

 

Square 1:
With Color A, cast on 61 sts.

 

R1 (RS): K28, K2tog, place marker, K1, place marker, SSK, K28

R2 & even rows : Knit.

R3: Join Color B (do not cut Color A): Knit to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, slip marker, K1, slip marker, SSK, Knit till end.

 

Repeat R3 and R2, alternating between Color A and Color B every 2 rows, until 1 st remains.

 

Square 2:

R1: With Color B and RS facing, pick up 31 sts along top edge, turn;

R2: CO 30 sts at beginning of row, K28, K2tog, place marker, K1, place marker, SSK, K28

R3: With Color A (do not cut Color B): Knit to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, slip marker, K1, slip marker, SSK, Knit till end.

R4 & even rows : Knit.

 

Repeat R3 and R4, alternating between Color A and Color B every 2 rows, carrying unused yarn up along the edge/side of scarf.

 

Work Square 2 once more so you have a total of 3 squares. Alternate the color you use to begin each square, ie use Color B to start second square, and Color A to start 3rd square.

 

With RS facing each other, sew the 2 edges together to form a circular cowl.

Weave in all loose ends.
