To knit scarf:
Cast on 55 stitches.
(K1, P1) every row in color sequence, joining a new ball of yarn as each ball is used up. Knit until the final ball of yarn is used up, making sure to leave enough yarn to bind off on the last ball.
Bind off all stitches. Weave in all ends.
Note: Each ball makes a piece of about W14" x L16" in Pattern Stitch. This pattern can be used to make a longer scarf, a shawl, a throw, and a blanket or bed cover.
- If a longer scarf is preferred, continue in pattern stitch using 1-2 more balls of yarn in color of your choice.
- To make a shawl, make 2 pieces of this scarf and sew the 2 pieces together lengthwise. This will make a shawl W28" x L80".
- To make a throw, make 3 or 4 pieces of this scarf and sew together lengthwise. 3 of these will make a throw W42" x L80". 4 of these will make a throw of W56" x L80".
- For a blanket or bed cover, make 5 or 6 pieces of this scarf and sew lengthwise.
